Summer is still in full swing, but I can’t wait for fall to come around! I like to see my wardrobe stocked with fall essentials, but since I don’t like paying full price for clothing, I’m taking advantage of all the summer sales! (Who’s with me?) I recently posted a blog about fall fashion trends, too, and I thought it would be an excellent idea to round up the biggest hair trends to go with each look.
Hairstylists (myself included) predict that summer styles will carry through the new season. Think blunt cuts, fiery copper, and loose waves. I also see some throwback styles making a 2022 comeback, such as shaggy hair and shorter, layered looks. Read on for the six biggest fall hair trends you’ll want to rock come September.
Elegant Copper
Warm tones will reign supreme in fall, with copper on the frontlines followed by statement reds and auburn. Celebrities like Zendaya and Tessa Thompson made quite a buzz when they debuted this regal shade, so I think more people will likely make the switch from their summer blonde or balayage.
Modern Shag
Shaggy hair isn’t going anywhere this 2022. It’s a great way to add an extra bit of texture and movement to your outfit. It also lends itself to being styled in various ways: short, long, curly, straight—there are many options!
Blunt Lob
A blunt lob is your best bet if you’re planning to grow your summer hair but still want that edginess. On the other hand, if summer did a number on your locks like sun damage and dead ends, this may be the dramatic chop you need.

’70s Fringe
The seventies resurgence in hairstyles is still strong this fall, from blowouts to bouncy curls, but nothing beats the timelessness of chunky bangs. They look chic with any look, from casual to dressy, and whether you wear your hair up or down. So if you’re looking for a sign to get a fringe this season, this is it.
Luxurious Brown
Countless brown shades dominated the fall 2022 runways, so it’s no surprise this rich, earthy hue ended up on this list. Brown exudes a soft but luxe look that works well with almost all skin tones, making it a go-to color for men and women. If you already have brown hair and want to switch your look for autumn, I suggest getting caramel or light blonde highlights to add dimension.
Undone Waves
Call it the lazy girl’s go-to hairstyle, but I love undone waves. They look elegant when worn with a dress and easily elevate any basic outfit. Waves have a certain oomph to them, so you can get away with not styling them too much and let the volume do the talking.
