Giving Beauty Service to People Living in Poverty

As many of you know, I’ve been sharing my beauty services with our underserved communities, including unhoused and people living in poverty. My non profit, Haircuts with Heart is growing and expanding day by day. We have provided over 1200 services and served over 800 people.

Our last event took place at ROOTS Community Health Center in East Oakland. Haircuts with Heart offers haircuts, beard trims and manicures every month, as part of ROOTS Wednesday Wellness program. The case managers and guests here are always so grateful for our services.

One of the homeless women, a woman in her 60’s was at first, skeptical to step into the room and receive services, but finally she sat in the chair. When our volunteer Natasha was finished braiding her hair, the stylist on the other side of the room said to the guest, “You look like the queen you are!” The guest burst into tears.

Our success is possible because of, and depends on your individual individual donations and volunteer hours! We welcome you to come out and be a part of one of our events anytime. Your time is much appreciated.

One of our goals this year is to serve 750 people, with a focus of serving kids, and young adults.

Come check out our recent blog post and discover ways that make your giving can become even more impactful!

*If there is anyone you know that might support our work as a volunteer or donor, please let me know.
